Disaster Preparedness & Recovery

Houses Damaged By Hurricane

VIUCEDD is engaged in disaster preparedness, support, recovery, and relief for people with disabilities and their families. These activities include engaging with our DD network partners, national leaders, and disability agencies in relation to disaster preparedness and support.

The executive director of VIUCEDD is a member of the Emergency Management Council of the US Virgin Islands Government in association with the Virgin Island Territorial Emergency Management Agency (VITEMA).

VIUCEDD used money donated after hurricanes Irma and Maria to purchase emergency radios for members of the disability community on the St. Thomas/St. John and St, Croix Districts. Specialty radios were purchased for the deaf and hard of hearing members of our community.

Contact us for more information and with any questions. As part of the University of the Virgin Islands, we proudly serve individuals in the St. Thomas/St. John and St. Croix districts.
