Early Intervention

Early Intervention is one of the program areas represented through VIUCEDD’s interdisciplinary training and community work.

VIUCEDD supports early intervention and inclusive early childhood practices through partnerships, training, and technical assistance across the Virgin Islands. Our work includes collaboration with the Bucs Early Inclusive Childcare Center and technical assistance and training for Head Start programs, early childhood professionals, families, and other community partners.

VIUCEDD also provides autism-related training focused on early identification, supporting young children in inclusive settings, and helping families and professionals better understand the needs of young children with developmental disabilities.

These efforts strengthen local knowledge and provide practical resources for early childhood settings throughout the territory.

Supporting Children and Families

Families play an essential role in early development.

Access to information and appropriate services can help families better understand available supports and connect with professionals and programs that address developmental needs.

VIUCEDD’s interdisciplinary approach also helps bring together knowledge from multiple professional areas to strengthen services for individuals with developmental disabilities and their families.

Education and Training

As part of its broader commitment to interdisciplinary education and continuing education, VIUCEDD supports opportunities for professionals and others working within developmental disability services to strengthen their knowledge and practice.
