Research is one of the four core functions that guide the work of VIUCEDD.
VIUCEDD’s work includes basic and applied research, evaluation, and public policy analysis.
These activities help strengthen the connection between research and practice and support VIUCEDD’s broader work within the disability community.

Basic and Applied Research
Research provides opportunities to increase knowledge and better understand issues affecting individuals with developmental disabilities, their families, and the systems that support them.
Evaluation
Evaluation allows programs, services, and initiatives to be examined and better understood.
This work contributes to VIUCEDD’s commitment to bringing evidence-based research and strong practices into the community.
Public Policy Analysis
Public policy analysis provides another important component of VIUCEDD’s research function and contributes to understanding policies affecting individuals with developmental disabilities.
Bridging Research and Practice
VIUCEDD works to implement a bridge between research and practice and bring evidence-based research and the best level of practice to the community.
Research, evaluation, and public policy analysis are important parts of fulfilling that responsibility.
